Meet the team

Our passion for words is underpinned by solid professional experience. Writing and editing copy and spotting story ideas, and news angles, is what we do.

Kaye Holland

WORDSMITH

Kaye is a London-based wordsmith who has written for a range of publications including The Daily Telegraph, The Times, Time Out, The Daily Mail, The I, Culture Trip, The Sun and The South China Morning Post among others.

After reading English at King’s College London, she embarked on a City University Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism. Kaye then enjoyed a stint at the BBC (BBC Sport;  Newsround) before swapping the UK for sunnier shores: she lived and worked as a writer in the Middle East, China, the Caribbean, Argentina and Hawaii before returning to the UK and calling Brixton home.

Kaye has held senior editor roles at Time Out, The Telegraph, TNT Magazine, Just About Travel and Haute Living and worked with tourism boards, charities, contract publishers, travel agencies, restaurants, hotels and small businesses – in addition to editing an array of books.

When she’s not crafting words or seeking out her next travel adventure, you’ll find Kaye leading walking tours around London; cheering on her beloved Watford Football Club; campaigning for the Liberal Democrats; or co-presenting a community radio show.

Need a word? Kaye has plenty.

Teresa Machan

JOURNALIST

A journalist for 25 years, Teresa is published in national magazines and newspapers including The Guardian, The Times, The Independent and The Daily Telegraph. Most recently Teresa was a commissioning editor at the Telegraph Media Group, where she held senior editorial roles for nine years.

She was a journalist in Hong Kong during the momentous period of the handover of sovereignty and has written about everything from travel and property to beekeeping and scuba diving. Interviewees have included Richard Branson, DJ Mark Ronson, Olympian Rebecca Adlington and author Bill Bryson. She has worked with charities, tour operators, hotels and airlines and has launched four magazines from scratch – including a luxury homes magazine for The Telegraph.

Like Kaye, Brighton-based Teresa is well travelled. After graduating from Bournemouth University she filled a backpack and flew to Zimbabwe for the start of a two-year adventure. Her wanderlust has taken her from Antarctica to Zanzibar and many places in between. Scuba diving has also led to adventures – including volunteering on a coral-reef research project in the Seychelles.

She has crossed continents by rail and road, picked bananas in Queensland, trained as a barista in Sydney and sold hermit crabs on a New Jersey boardwalk and hot dogs on LA's Venice Beach.

A keen sea swimmer Teresa recently undertook her first cold-water snorkel – in Antarctica. Despite several attempts she still can’t ride a horse.

If not in the sea Teresa is most likely to be found enjoying a post-walk pint in the Sussex Downs.
